Chiltern (the birthplace of Sir John "Black Jack" McEwen: Born: Chiltern -29 Mar 1900 , the 18th Prime Minister of Australia) is a 3 hour drive north of Melbourne , perfect stopover, located midway Sydney/Canberra/Melbourne between the towns of Beechworth and Rutherglen , Albury and Wangaratta.

Built in 1868 on the site of the original Post Office, the building now housing Chiltern Cottage and Indigo Suite has provided many services to Chiltern and community throughout her history. The parents of the current owner (*proudly fifth generation on Chiltern soil!) made Chiltern Cottage their first home in 1948, and are delighted to see her as lovingly restored Chiltern accommodation and connected once again to the family,71 years hence!
